Sarah Palin Delivers Speech of Her Life at RNC Convention

Sarah Palin, the Republican VP candidate, Governor of Alaska and recent mayor of a very small town has been in the crosshairs of the national media and the Obama campaign since John McCain chose her to be his running mate just a few days ago. Some would argue that she absolutely should be under intense scrutiny as candidate for the Vice Presidency of the United States.

Regardless of your politics, you will probably agree that Palin needed to deliver the speech of her life at last night’s Republican National Convention in Minneapolis. Content and politics aside, she delivered in a big way.

The question is, how?

Yes, she has been a governor and mayor, but she certainly has not been on the national stage like she was last night.

Updated MEDIAdeluge here:

Knowing she had some pageant experience, I wondered last night — prior to her speech if we’d see something akin to Miss South Carolina from a few months ago. I said then and I’ll say again, public speaking is hard. I’ve done it pretty well and I have definitely done it poorly. So I have no room to take shots and Miss South Carolina. Still, that image was in my head as Governor Palin took the stage.

Regardless of her background, one has to be impressed with how the Governor handled herself last night. And, in a climate where we realize the importance of eloquent national leaders, Palin and Obama shine.

Does the speech mean Palin is a good pick for VP? No. But, a bad speech most assuredly would have been a strong indicator that she wasn’t ready.

I for one will be on the edge of my seat this political season watching all the candidates deliver their messages.
